Can You Beat Deus Ex Human Revolution Without Augmentations?
I never asked for this... to be my next video, but the other challenge I started was just too hard. Join me in my quest to find out if you can beat DXHR without using any augmentations (including hacking...!), made doubly difficult by playing on the hardest difficulty, having no health regeneration, no radar and a mod called 'Hardcore Revival' to spice things up further still.

Who deletes Deus Ex in the first place?
@@JohnSmith-qh4mi I agree it should be installed by default on every device and un-uninstallable.
There is a glitch. Even if you downgrade pistols in the creation screen it upgrades it again but gives you the skill points for downgrading.
@@spesago2 this was fixed with Shifter, which I had installed. I show you a few times all my skills are untrained throughout 🤓

@@ChrisTries Its interesting because we went about our runs completely differently, when I first investigated, i looked at without augments, and it was just too easy. But you took out the life regen and added the realism mod to make it a good challenge. whereas for me, I decided to keep it vanilla and remove even more
@sirrando and this is why I’m really looking forward to your video mate. It’s not the same run done by someone else; it’s different enough to be its entirely own category - I’d never imagined doing it without items/weapons etc. I’m just chuffed there’s now going to be more DX content on YT.

Still hard to imagine he’s gone. One of the greats, truly. Such a large part of what I do was inspired by Paul, as I’m sure is the case for many others.
great video. I am going to check your other vids for system shock. they did a new system shock recently and that could be a viable no skills etc run type thing, especially as deus ex is the spiritual successor to the system shock games.

About the gas bomb, the game doesn’t bring that much attention to it but it looks like when you shoot the glass you're preventing the chemicals from mixing properly stoping the chemical reaction from creating a lethal desperson of gas.
Exactly this! Why there is even a keypad option to disable the bomb, I do not know.
@ChrisTries probably so players can disable the bomb silently, and without a firearm.

Well done! A few fun facts: You can beat the Zhau's Penthouse Guards mini-boss in 3 seconds with 3 well placed gas mines. No alerts. No kills. Also, I think you can pierce Zhau's shields in the last boss fight with the Laser Rifle. So no need to bother with anything else.
Hello! Thanks for watching! Yeah eventually the gas grenades worked… I was just dying SO often. The boss trick with the laser rifle was something I knew about, BUT was it not more fun to watch me suffer and do it the hard way 🤣?

So Mankind Divided and Invisible War no aug runs are on the way, I’ve also got runs planned for KOTOR 1/2, Red Faction, Max Payne, Dishonoured, Mass Effect… to name a few. In other words I’m not going anywhere for a while, for better or worse 😂.

I did this years ago, so Yes. I've also beat the game in Matrix mode, in pacifist mode, in modes where I can only use certain classes of weapons, etc. My question is: can you max out every skill in one playthrough? There's a LOT of skill points to get.

@@ChrisTries Beat it in Matrix Mode. It'll be confusing at first, but you'll get used to it. (There's 2 options here, with and without shadows. When you activate the mode, there'll be no shadows, but if you save/reload, it'll load the shadows and the matrix texture...which might make it easier. Either way, it's something no other game I know of has.) I did enjoy the video though!

I’m seriously considering any future DXHR runs allow hacking 🤔

I’ll never say never to F:NV, one of my favourite games, but the legend that was Mitten Squad conquered NV and Nerbit does a fantastic job on a far more regular basis that I can currently at least 😂. Who knows, we’ll see!

Nah it wasn’t that bad! But it’s also not as fun as being able to play with augs and upgraded skills. I actually had to play it all over again normally after this run to not feel blasphemous to the game.
Do you think you're going to do this run with the System Shock 1 remake? I mean, it'd be more challenging since you have to go out of your way decently far into the first floor just to get the wrench, but I imagine it's theoretically possible (and if it's not then you can still just do it with the pipe)

@@ChrisTries no problem man, your content is dope. I didn't know about it either until I actually played the game for myself, but yeah, you can find a wrench hidden on the medical floor as a reference to System Shock 2. I think it's a little faster than the pipe but it has less range

You can go further with the challenge and play every hub as if every one of them were starting hubs and still beat them.
I am likely to do more severe play throughs in the future, such as no items, no kills etc; feel free to chuck in any ideas!
